Met Eireann Ireland weather forecast settled conditions here to stay with dramatic temperature swing

Ireland is going to enjoy another week of settled weather as high pressure continues to dominate.

However temperatures are set to hit freezing as the mercury will dive to as low as -3 degrees this weekend.

Next week will see a dramatic 10-degree jump with temperatures going from 2 degrees to a mild 12 degrees overnight.

Today will start off cloudy and misty but there will be some sunny spells developing.

It will be generally dry apart from some patchy light rain or drizzle. Temperatures will hit the highs of 5 to 9 degrees.

Tonight will see patchy light rain or drizzle move southeastwards but there will be some clear breaks that will bring a touch of frost in parts and some mist and fog patches.

The lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees are expected.

Patchy rain or drizzle is expected to clear up tomorrow morning with some bright and sunny spells developing.

Temperatures will range between 6 and 9 degrees.

Tomorrow night will be cold with the mercury dropping to as low as -3 degrees with a widespread frost.

Monday

“Monday morning will be bright and frosty. It will be a dry day with spells of sunshine for most, though it will cloudier and breezy in the southwest with a little drizzle.

“Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees, mildest along the west coast, in a light to moderate south to southeast breeze, fresher around the Munster coast.

Monday night

“Early on Monday night it will be mostly cloudy and dry. Rain will develop from the west overnight, though it will be very light and patchy in the south.

“It will be coldest in Ulster early in the night with temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees but it will get milder overnight. There will be moderate to fresh south to southwest winds

Tuesday

“For Tuesday, many areas will see quite a dry day with some brighter spells. However, there will still be some patches of rain and drizzle in parts too.

“It will be mild with afternoon temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, in moderate southwesterly breezes.

Tuesday night and early Wednesday

“Tuesday night and early Wednesday looks likely to bring some patchy rain or drizzle, with colder, brighter and mainly dry weather following during Wednesday with good sunny spells.”
