Martin Lewis announces GMB exit until after Christmas

Martin Lewis has announced his departure from Good Morning Britain.

The money expert, 49, appeared on the ITV show with Susanna Reid when he revealed that it would be his final show until Christmas.

Susanna, 50, will remain presenting the show until she takes a break for Christmas at a later date.

As the programme ended this morning, Martin said: “And my time for having a chat with all of you has gone as it’s my last day on here before Christmas – though my show’s on at 8 o’clock on Thursday night – 8.30 on Thursday night! Do have a watch of that.”

Susanna quipped: “Watch ITV from 8!”

“Well, yes especially at 8.30,” Martin said. “That’s it from me, so I wish all of those that aren’t going to watch my show (why not?!) a very merry Christmas and a happy new year because I won’t see you on here again until after that! Thank you for having me!”

“Thank you so much for being with us,” Susanna added.

It comes after an emotional show as tragic Arthur Labinjo-Hughes’ gran Madeleine Halcrow appeared on the programme.

Speaking to hosts Susanna and Martin, who were both incredibly emotional during the chat, she said that Emma Tustin, 32, his dad Thomas Hughes would “never get to heaven, they’ll burn in hell”.

Martin waved goodbye to GMB

The six-year-old boy died on June 17 last year after suffering an “unsurvivable” brain injury while the country was on lockdown.

His evil stepmum Emma Tustin, 32, convicted of murdering the defenceless child after a horrific campaign of abuse, while his dad Thomas Hughes was found guilty of manslaughter.

Little Arthur was found with 125 areas of bruising on his body after he died from unsurvivable brain injuries in June last year, while alone with Hughes’ partner Tustin.

Madeleine recalled the last heartbreaking time she saw Arthur, revealing that the “sparkle had gone from his eyes”. His dad Thomas later prevented Madeleine from seeing Arthur again as he pleaded to stay with her rather than go in the car with his father and stepmum.

“I’m here on behalf of Arthur and his mother,” Madeleine said. “Arthur was the happiest child, he was very much loved by everyone…

“He was always happy and that’s why I called him sunny delight… I saw him on the 21st October [2019], which was my birthday.

“He’d lost the sparkle in his eyes and his dad came to pick him up and Arthur said to his dad, ‘Is she in the car’ and he said yes and Arthur started to cry. He said, ‘Grandma, can I stay with you?’ And he was due to see his mother the following week and he was so excited. Then on the 23rd October, I received a text from his dad saying, ‘You’re not seeing him again’.”
