Liverpool look set to stick with what they’ve got despite the January transfer window offering them the chance to bolster their ranks with Edouardo Camavinga among those linked
Liverpool are in the midst of a three-horse title race as they look to regain their Premier League crown.
Jurgen Klopp has benefitted from a settled starting XI for much of his tenure.
As a result few major faces have arrived at Anfield recently with Ibrahima Konate the only notable summer signing.
18 months ago Diogo Jota arrived and the forward has been a revelation, but the Reds seem unlikely to seek more major names in the coming month.
Mohamed Salah’s deal continues to wind down and keeping their current stars has often been a priority over signing new ones.
The club have been warned about allowing the Egyptian to run down his contract, but may be reluctant to break their wage structure to keep him.
Here are the latest transfer rumours from Anfield.
Reds’ January plans
The Reds will lose Salah and Sadio Mane for a prolonged period as they jet off for the Africa Cup of Nations.
It leaves Jurgen Klopp light in attack as his side attempt to remain in the title race, but no additions are on his agenda.
Instead the German and the board at Anfield are drawing up recruitment plans for the summer window as they look to bolster their squad.
Konate was the club’s only marquee summer signing with no major new faces arriving in attack for 18 months.
Camavinga’s exit route
The French teenager moved to the Spanish giants several months ago from Rennies.
There was a huge clamour for his signature but Los Blancos eventually won the race.
Camavinga has struggled to settle though with regular game time coming at a premium.
Klopp failed to replace Gini Wijnaldum after he left for free in the summer and may see the Frenchman as a replacement.
Salah seeks Haaland partnership
Salah wants his current employers to pursue a move for Erling Haaland as he attempts to thrash out a new deal at Anfield.
The Egyptian has been in scintillating form this term and wants the prolific Borussia Dortmund star to join him on Merseyside.
It has been widely reported that Haaland has a £75m release clause in his contract which comes into effect at the end of the season, thus allowing potential suitors to pursue the forward.
Such a fee would be considered cheap given the player’s age profile and exploits at this stage of his career.
