Motorists in Dublin have been warned to take extra precautions as Storm Dudley rages on.
A nationwide yellow alert is in place warning of strong winds with mean speeds of 50 – 65km/h with damaging gusts of 80 – 110km/h, especially on exposed coasts and on high ground.
Additionally, heavy rain will also bring a risk of spot flooding.
There are currently nearly 100 traffic jams across Dublin as heavy delays have been reported.
Extreme weather can significantly increase the risk of an accident for drivers, their passengers, and fellow motorists on the road, the experts at Carzone warned.
They warned that in extreme weather conditions, it’s best to avoid driving altogether and to stay off the road completely until the weather clears.
