Denise Van Outen wants her close pal Kimberley Walsh to replace ex Eddie Boxall on Celebrity Gogglebox after she dumped him for allegedly having phone sex with other women behind her back
The 47-year-old actress, who recently called off her engagement to the creative director after seven years, would appear on the celebrity version of the Channel 4 series with Eddie, but it seems she has set her sights on someone new.
The former couple became professional couch potatoes together in 2019, but that has come to a stop now they have parted ways.
And Denise is determined to get the singer, 40, to become her new Gogglebox sidekick.
“They were already signed up to the next round of filming when Denise dumped Eddie and she wants to honour the commitment,” a source told The Sun.
The insider added: “But she won’t be having Eddie back in the house, let alone on her sofa, so she is looking for a friend to come on board.
“Ideally, it would be Kimberley Walsh as they’re good pals and Kimberley has been on Gogglebox before.”
Denise dumped Eddie, 47, after discovering he was having phone sex with other women behind her back.
The split was confirmed last week as Denise took to her social media to post a statement regarding the relationship.
She wrote: “Over the past couple of months, there has been much speculation regarding my relationship with Eddie. It saddens me to confirm that we are no longer a couple.
“I had to make the difficult decision not to continue in our relationship. I will always treasure the good times we spent together, and the memories made. We ask that you please respect our privacy at this time, especially for our children.”
According to reports, Eddie is desperate to win his former wife-to-be back.
It’s thought that Eddie is currently staying above a friend’s pub near to his and Denise’s Essex home in the hope he will be able to get back together with her.
Denise and Eddie had been together for seven years and shared a home in Essex with her daughter Besty, 11, who she had with West End star Lee Mead.
The pair previously thought about having children of their own before going against the idea.
In 2020 the couple revealed they were planning to tie the knot after lockdown restrictions, however that’s no longer on the cards.
Denise was previously married to Betsy’s dad Lee back in 2009 after meeting in 2007 on Any Dream Will Do, but they decided to separate just four years later in 2013.
