Amir Khan posts Abdurosik and Hasbulla facing off ringside

UFC President Dana White fears Hasbulla Magomedov’s dad will stop him competing in the organisation against rival Abdu Rozik.

The promotional boss met with social media sensation Magomedov in Abu Dhabi last month when he attended the UFC 267 pay-per-view event to support his friend Islam Makhachev.

But he has poured cold water on the idea of fans ever getting to see MMA’s top promotion putting on a bout between Magomedov and Rozik, due to his dad being very protective of the Russian.

Magomedov suffers from a growth hormone deficiency which gives him a child-like appearance, and he became an internet star earlier this year when a ‘press conference’ between he and Rozik went viral.

He has been a star in internet circles and in his home country of Russia for a while, but it was his feud with Rozik that led to international fame, and an invite to the UFC 267 event.

“I don’t know if he wants to get involved,” Dana White said during an appearance on Pardon My Take.

“From what I hear, his father is super protective of him. If that’s the case, you don’t want your kid fighting.”

White said that he watched as the pair clashed at the event, which was held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi with a main event that saw the light-heavyweight title up for grabs between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Texeira.

“They went at it that night at the fights,” White continued. “I haven’t seen enough, I saw him punch Minotauro Nogueira in the face.

“And he threw a kick at that other kid in the stomach, did you see that?”

White has often shown disdain for what he considers “freak show” fights, and told the Barstool Sports hosts that there is “no sustainable business model” if he puts on bouts of that nature.

But he does appear to have an interest in working with Magomedov, who has garnered millions of fans around the world with his videos.

Asxab Tamaev, a Russian MMA fighter, is the man that started the Hasbulla vs Abdu Rozik talk when he uploaded a bizarre ‘press conference’ in which the pair went back-and-forth earlier this year.

Tamaev had been creating videos with Magomedov for a number of months prior to putting together the viral hit, which landed both all over the Instagram timelines of fans in the UK and America.

But he has come under criticism from certain human rights groups, with the head of the Russian Dwarf Athletic Association Uliana Podpalnaya saying that it is “a show to make people laugh”.

“It’s not even like a show fight,” she said in May to Gazeta.Ru. “They get paid a lot of money and it’s a show to make people laugh.

“There’s nothing serious about this, this isn’t sport.

“This is unethical, wrong, from my point of view. It seems to me that only on the one hand it can be correct and beautiful, if martial arts among small people are made a Paralympic sport.”
