Cheney Public Schools names new superintendent

CHENEY, Wash.– There might be a brand new chief at Cheney Public Schools beginning this summer time.

School district officers stated Dr. Ben Ferney was chosen to be superintendent. The board of administrators unanimously voted to supply him a contract that can begin July 1, 2022.

Ferney is not any stranger to the Inland Northwest. Right now, he’s the superintendent of Valley School District south of Chewelah. He’s been there since 2018.

Before that, he was the principal of Freeman Middle School for 5 years, assistant principal at Westwood and Cheney Middle Schools for 2 years, and principal assistant at Bancroft Alternative School for 3 years.

He additionally taught highschool science for ten years at Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane.

“I am excited to come serve in Cheney Public Schools! The district is moving forward in a positive direction and I look forward to being a part of this great team,” Ferney stated in an announcement.

A contract might be introduced to the School Board of Directors on April 27.
