The Stamford Bridge outfit could be busy in the January transfer window, with three key defenders yet to sign new deals with their contracts expiring next summer
Chelsea could lose three of their key defensive players next summer when their contracts expire.
Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger could all be available for free when their current deals expire at the end of the season.
Talks are said to be underway to extend those deals, although the club are reportedly preparing for the worst.
That means the players will need replacing, but reports of on target’s move being ‘done’ have been rubbished by his club.
It comes as Thomas Tuchel’s reported desire to sign one particular player has come to light.
Here are all the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.
Blues ‘resigned’ to losing Rudiger
Chelsea are “resigned” to losing defender Antonio Rudiger when his contract expires next summer, it has been reported.
The German international has been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid who are reportedly keen to add a player of his calibre for no transfer fee.
And 90min reports that the gap between Chelsea’s latest contract offer and Rudiger’s demands mean the club have accepted they will lose the player at the end of the season.
‘Done deal’ claims denied
Fenerbache’s defender Attila Szalai was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge after his international boss claimed his transfer to Chelsea was a “done deal” earlier this week.
Hungary boss Marco Rossi had been asked how the defender woud fare in Serie A, but insisted he had agreed a move to the Premier League club instead.
But Fenerbache have now rubbished those claims and have made a statement denying the player is set to move, Sky Sports reports.
The statement read: “The allegations regarding the transfer of our player Attila Szalai, which have been made public in the last few days, based on foreign press and social media, do not reflect the truth.
“Our club has not made any transfer negotiations regarding our successful football player Attila Szalai. Our player continues his work completely concentrating on the goals of our team. We present it to the public.”
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel hopes to bring Juventus winger Federico Chiesa to the club, it is claimed.
Chiesa impressed for his country as they won Euro 2020 last summer and he’s been widely linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.
