Brave woman gives chase after handbag is snatched in Dundalk

Gardaí have said there have been no arrests following a frightening incident in Dundalk yesterday when a woman had her handbag snatched and her car rammed as she gave chase. 

ardai have confirmed they are investigating a theft that occurred at Longwalk, Dundalk, shortly after 2pm on Monday, November 15.

“No arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing,” gardai said.

According to LMFM, the victim who had been in a bank on Clanbrassil Street, returned to her car in Boyd’s car park around 2pm.

A waiting thief opened the back door of the car and grabbed her bag before escaping in a car.

The brave woman gave chase in her car before it was rammed near the Carroll Village apartments, where the pursuit ended.

Her car has been forensically examined and CCTV footage is being reviewed as part of the Garda investigation.

It has been reported that the suspects are believed to have escaped via the M1 southbound at Junction 18 Dundalk North.

The victim believes she was followed after she had made a lodgement.

She made an appeal on social media for the public to keep an eye out for her bag in case it was thrown from the getaway vehicle.

She acknowledged that the money will be gone but hopes to gets the other contents returned.
